About Me
From the fields of Punjab to the pinnacle of international cricket
Early Life & Journey
Born on September 8, 1999, in Chak Jaimal Singh Wala, Fazilka district, Punjab, into a Punjabi Sikh family. My father, Lakhwinder Singh, a farmer with cricket aspirations, recognized my passion early and moved our family to Mohali in 2007 for better training opportunities.
Cricket Beginnings
Started playing cricket at age 3, with my father bowling 500-700 balls daily. At 12, former Indian bowler Karsan Ghavri spotted my talent and recommended me for Punjab's U-14 team. The journey from village grounds to international stadiums has been extraordinary.
Current Status
Currently serving as India's Test Captain and ODI Vice-Captain, ranked #1 ODI batsman globally as of May 2025. Leading Gujarat Titans in IPL and representing Punjab in domestic cricket, continuing to chase excellence in every format.

2025
ICC Champions Trophy Winner & Test Captain
Appointed as India's Test Captain on May 24, 2025. Led India to Champions Trophy victory, scoring unbeaten 101 vs Bangladesh in the first group game. Maintained #1 ODI ranking.
2024
T20 Captain Debut & Leadership Excellence
Captained India for the first time against Zimbabwe in June 2024. Named reserve player for T20 World Cup. Continued exceptional batting form across all formats.
2023
Record-Breaking Year & World Cup Performance
Became youngest to score ODI double century (208 vs NZ). Scored maiden T20I century (126*). Asia Cup top scorer with 302 runs. World Cup: fastest to 2000 ODI runs in 38 innings.
2022
Gujarat Titans Success & IPL Championship
Joined Gujarat Titans for ₹8 crore. Won IPL 2022 in inaugural season. Scored first ODI century vs Zimbabwe. Consistent performance across all formats with multiple series wins.
2020-2021
Test Debut & Border-Gavaskar Trophy Hero
Made Test debut on Dec 26, 2020. Scored crucial 91 at Gabba, helping India win Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Emerged as key player in Test format with consistent performances.
2018-2019
IPL Debut & International Call-up
Bought by KKR for ₹1.8 crore. Made IPL debut April 2018. ODI debut vs New Zealand Jan 31, 2019. Won Emerging Player award in IPL 2019.
2018
U-19 World Cup Triumph
Vice-captain of India U-19 team. Scored 372 runs at 124.00 average. Player of the Tournament. Crucial 102* vs Pakistan in semifinal. Led India to 4th U-19 World Cup title.
2017
Professional Cricket Debut
First-class debut vs Bengal in Ranji Trophy. Scored maiden century (129 vs Services). List-A debut vs Vidarbha. Started professional journey with Punjab cricket team.
